Kimpton Aertson Hotel, an IHG Hotel

Loews Vanderbilt sits in Nashville's Midtown, a few minutes from Music Row and Vanderbilt University, and its recent multimillion-dollar renovation leaned fully into the city it calls home. South Florida firm Studio DADO built the lobby around a sweeping sculptural chandelier and a glass artwork of brass instruments set behind reception, with a new grand staircase connecting the lobby to the mezzanine above. Guestrooms carry the same restraint, a soft neutral palette with subtle musical motifs rather than literal theming, plus new furnishings, plush seating, and upgraded vanities and showers, giving the hotel a polish that still reads unmistakably as Nashville. The result updates a long-standing Midtown address without erasing what made it a Nashville institution in the first place.
We chose this address for a renovation that treats Music City as a design language rather than a gift-shop gimmick. The brass-instrument glass artwork and the chandelier give the lobby real presence without tipping into kitsch, and that same restraint carries through to Masons at West End, where live performances by Nashville artists share the room with a serious cocktail and dinner menu. It is the rare renovated convention hotel that feels curated rather than refreshed on a schedule, and the kind of property an insider recommends for its restaurant as readily as its rooms.
Midtown puts Loews Vanderbilt within a short ride of both Music Row's studios and downtown's honky-tonks, while Vanderbilt University and its medical center sit close enough to make this a natural base for visiting families as much as music-industry travelers. West End Avenue's restaurant strip is walkable, and the location trades Lower Broadway's noise for a quieter, more residential pace without losing easy access to it. For guests splitting a trip between meetings and sightseeing, few Midtown addresses manage both as comfortably.

The hotel's dining centerpiece pairs a circular bar with a performance venue, designed by New York's Parts and Labor Design, where live sets from Nashville artists share the floor with Executive Chef Sean Strolle's menu of elevated classics — salted cod fritters with caviar, lobster thermidor, tableside beef Wellington. It's a destination restaurant in its own right, not a hotel dining room that happens to be open to the public, and reservations are worth making even for guests staying elsewhere.
Maisonette Patisserie & Coffee handles the lobby's other half of the day, an all-day café pouring locally roasted coffee alongside daily pastries from the hotel's own pastry chef and grab-and-go options for an early start. It's a small detail, but one that matters: a proper coffee and pastry counter, rather than a generic in-room machine, sets the tone for the rest of the stay.
A final renovation phase lands in January 2027, adding a refreshed 8,500-square-foot Symphony Ballroom and the hotel's largest outdoor event lawn, so guests booking around a wedding or conference should check on construction timing before locking in dates. Families are welcome given the Vanderbilt-area setting, and rooms facing West End Avenue are worth requesting for guests who want a view over the quieter interior courtyard rooms rather than the parking structure side.
